New to CHPC
Welcome to Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church, a warm and welcoming environment where families can congregate and worship together with other Christian families who want to be a part of celebrating the divine love and life of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to joyfully serve God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In our ministries at CHPC we are educated by the words and deeds of Jesus Christ along with everyday situations and struggles that occur within us or our community.
We offer two services on Sunday Morning. We have a special place for you, come join us in fellowship and worshiping the Lord.
Sunday 9:00 a.m. A Traditional service with our amazing choir and familiar hymns
Sunday 10:30 a.m. A contemporary service with praise songs led by our Godsend praise band
Nursery Infants – age 3
The nursery is located downstairs near the playground. Enter by walking past our office, then turn left and go through the gates to the backyard. The nursery is the third door on your left. All babies must be signed in and out of the nursery. Our care team consists of two regular employees as well as 1 to 2 volunteers to help during services.
Contact Don Ebberts, our Director of Church School, for more information regarding the nursery and the care of your little ones; also, please plan to come early and meet the staff.
Sunday school – age 3 to 6th grade
Sunday school children will stay with their parents for approximately fifteen minutes of worship. The children are then invited to the front of the church for a children’s story and prayer. The children and our Sunday school teachers then leave the sanctuary and all walk together to Fellowship Hall for Sunday school. After services, parents need to walk down to the classrooms to pick up your children. Don Ebberts is always in the back area by our classrooms should you have any questions or concerns.
Attire
There are no specific dress requirements; most of the congregation tends to dress from very casual to business casual. We would like you to be comfortable during services.
Tithes and Offerings
Tithes are what individual families choose to give financially each month to our church budget. The congregations’ tithes support the costs of maintaining our physical buildings, staff and pastoral salaries, and our commitment to helping our many Mission projects.
Offerings are what an individual gives for a special area of need. For example our Deacons’ collect offerings on the Sunday’s that communion is served. These particular offerings can be applied to help members in our congregation who are experiencing financial difficulties and need a little help.
During services we pass an offertory plate around through the pews where individuals can place their tithe or offering envelope in the plate. For more information regarding our tithes and/or offerings please contact the church office.
Communion
Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month and is performed at both services. The congregation is invited to come forward by rows and walk up to the front of the church to receive communion. In our church you will be instructed to break off a piece of bread, which symbolizes the body of Christ, and then to dip the bread into the cup of grape juice, which symbolizes the blood of Christ. You then return to your pew and quietly reflect upon our Lord until communion is completed. If you cannot walk you may stay seated and one of our elders or deacons will come to you. If you are a visitor and wish to pass on communion just remain seated. If you have any questions about communion please contact the church the office.
