The harvest of my heart is bountiful this year as I think about how often guests at our church events comment on the warmth and welcome they feel at our church and how much that makes a difference to them.

It is part of who we want to be, as a church, an open place and space so that all who enter will experience hope and healing and become rooted in the adventure of faith in Jesus Christ.

So, as we near the time between giving thanks and the giving season, I want to draw your attention beyond the traditions of “Black Friday,” and “Cyber-Monday” to #GivingTuesday that was launched as a global generosity movement encouraging people to support non-profit organizations that support communities.  This year, #GivingTuesday is on November 28, 2023.

I believe CHPC is called to support our community. I believe we make an impact in our community and into the world on behalf of the Kingdom of God. Our love for the community is evident in events like Trunk or Treat, Parents Days Out, Vacation Bible School, Easter Sunrise Worship at Oak Canyon Nature Center and so many other celebrations. Our love for neighbor is felt each time we pray for others, host services for those unaffiliated with our church, and provide support for those in need.

Community is built from relationships, and we want to continue to build strong relationships. We know that God has called us to this work of meeting the needs of those around us  each time we provide children good food to eat and for their education, provide women and families a second chance who are emerging from addiction and abuse, provide the poor and unsheltered a place to be safe. And we will continue to do just that with your support and engagement. It’s all in our relationships.

Your generosity on #GivingTuesday will provide the resources we need together to reduce our planned deficit for this year. Your generosity on #GivingTuesday will lay the groundwork and plant the seeds for our future together. I encourage you to consider how you might respond to the challenge of #GivingTuesday this year.

Together, we will build toward the future through relationships by pledging to do one or more of the following:
